Morals - There is a Reason for Them!!!

My friend, Deak speaking at his mother’s funeral this week cited a maxim that is worth considering:
- "Sin will take you further than you want to go."
- "Sin will keep you there longer than you want to stay."
- "Sin will cost you far more than you want to pay."
In a society that has become entirely self serving, the only time you hear the Golden Rule quoted is when a person does not care for how they are being treated or they are correcting another. The idea of self-application of the moral teaching of God has seemingly passed into history.
The consequence of selfishness is self-delusion. My observation is that one must lie to them self first before being able to try to delude others. Self-delusion is the result of one believing that although others have been caught up in sin somehow they are exempt from consequences.
- The inevitability of discovery
- Numbers 32:23b "ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out."
- The surety of a consequential harvest
- Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
- The unlimited nature of the results
- James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
The problem that we face is not the blindness of an individual but of our society. At risk and already being destroyed are individuals, families and societal institutions such as marriage and human government that was meant to have as its goal the protection of all. Gay marriage is just the present issue. A rampant sexual appetite without guidelines is exacerbated by sex education in schools leading to astronomical STD rates, a high percentage of births outside of marriage and abortion without restraint. Old landmarks (morals) are being destroyed that will eventually see the destruction of America. The courts are Satan’s instruments of choice at this time. The destruction of any serious Christian influence in society is the goal of all who want a freedom that in the end can be only self-destructive.
Luke 13:5b except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish cries out to us that there is an escape from judgment, but it has to do with returning to God and His ways thru confession of our sinfulness, repentance which is a change of mind that produces a changed life and the receiving of God into our life by faith in His finished work on the Cross thru His Son, Jesus Christ.
